When using equipment that will be draining water such as kitchen sinks, dishwashers, and steam equipment, it is important to use indirect draining to prevent potential backflow. This floor sink includes 6" of sump depth and a 12" x 12" basin that allows for a substantial air gap to collect any potential backflow, instead of it coming back up into your kitchen equipment. A domed ABS strainer is designed to prevent splash-back and blocks any larger solids such as food or debris from getting into your p-trap and drain lines, which could result in clogging and service calls to a plumber.
