Aubrieta Hybrida Whitewell Gem grows as a perennial groundcover in USDA Zones: 4 - 9 and thrives in full sun to partial shade areas. Aubrieta, also called Rock Cress is a low-growing flower only reaching 4 - 6 inches in height with violet to purple blooms from mid spring to early summer. This ground cover is deer resistant and perfect for rock gardens and can be used as a container plant. Approximately 2,000 heirloom Aubrieta seeds covers 40 square feet. Keep moist until germination occurs in 14 - 21 days. Excellent choice for a rock garden in sun or part shade, growing over rock walls, or in alpine troughs and other containers. Aubrieta (Whitewell Gem) - (AKA) Rock Cress is an extremely popular rock garden plant, and a familiar sight in the spring ground cover garden. It forms a low cushion of evergreen leaves, literally smothered by flowers for several weeks. This strain has flowers in various shades of purple to violet, over grey-green leaves. Plants should be trimmed lightly immediately after blooming, to encourage a thick mounding habit. Excellent choice for a rock garden in sun or part shade, growing over rock walls, or in alpine troughs and other containers.
