Description

For a stunning long-blooming display, start Chrysanthemum carinatum. These annuals are commonly referred to as Painted Daisy. The flowers measure 3 inches across and come in brilliant colors of white, yellow, red and purple. Painted daisies are 18 - 36 annuals which grow in USDA zones 3 - 10. Each flower has a contrasting band of color and a purple center. They are an unforgettable flower, and they are great for cutting as well. Painted Daisy prefers a position in full sun and well-drained soil, and they are usually resistant to deer. Sowing Rate: 2 seeds per plant or 3 ounces per 1,000 square feet. Start the seed indoors in the spring 4 - 6 weeks before the end of frost season. With a temperature 68F, germination is usually within 28 days. Press the seed into the soil, cover it 1/16 inch deep and keep it moist. After danger of frost as passed, transplant the daisies to the garden spacing the plants 18 inches apart. Deadheading will encourage continuous blooming. For a stunning long-blooming display, start Chrysanthemum carinatum. These annuals are commonly referred to as Painted Daisy.
