Feature. Blue Bacopa blankets medium bright green foliage with dainty blue/violet flowers that have an orange-yellow center that appears to glow. It thrives in 3-9 ( USDA). Height. Give plants 8 to 12 inches of space when planting out. It will grow to about 10 inches tall and spread to 24 inches wide, cascading beautifully out of containers and hanging baskets or down a rock wall. It also is a great ground cover around taller plants in your landscape. Easy to grow. Bacopa is one of the easiest, most versatile low-growing plants, it thrives in full sun, filtered or light shade. The only requirement it has is evenly moist soil. Attracts pollinators. Blue Bacopa Hollyhock is hugely attractive to birds and butterflies and will encourage them to visit often. Sow. Sprinkle the seeds onto the compost without covering them in late winter. Put the container into a clear plastic bag and place it in a bright area out of direct sunlight. Keep soil moist. Seeds will germinate within10 days. Bacopa is a classic English cottage garden plant that is a favorite of many flower border gardeners. Bacopa is one of the easiest, most versatile low-growing plants, starry white flowers that will spill over the side of a planter or creep along the edge of a flower bed as a ground cover. The tall, stately flower stalks yield hibiscus-shaped flowers along their stems that bloom from summer until fall. The flowers range in colors from white to deep red and purple. There are single and double flower shapes and although the plants can grow to 9 feet tall, there are dwarf versions that can grow well in containers. GERMINATION. Start growing your seeds in late winter. Fill a container with moist compost. Sprinkle the seeds onto the compost; do not cover them with soil. Mist the seeds with a water spray. Put the container into a clear plastic bag and place it in a bright area out of direct sunlight, such as a window ledge that is not in full sun. The seeds germinate quickly; you should see new growth within ten days. Consider removing the weaker seedlings at this point in order to thin the plants out and preserve the stronger seedlings. Once big enough to handle, you can transfer the seedlings to individual pots. Wait until all danger of frost has passed before planting the Bacopa seedlings outside.
