Description
Lance leaved coreopsis has eight yellow rays makes an excellent cut flower that is long lasting. Native to the U.S. east of the Rockies. It is found in open areas on a variety of soils. Grows in USDA zones 3 - 9 and an 18 - 30 inch tall perennial wildflower. It blooms late spring into summer and grows one to three feet in height from flower seed. Does well in full sun and can tolerate some shade in sandy soils. Lance leaved coreopsis is also known as Tickseed. It is a perennial found tolerant of either moist or dry conditions. Under ideal conditions this wildflower can bloom its first year. Deadhead to encourage rebloom and prevent self-sowing. Sowing Rate: 5 ounces per 1,000 square feet or 13 pounds per acre. If you want it to reseed, allow it to drop its wild flower seed for more new seedlings the following spring. It thrives on poor soils and is tolerant of heat, humidity, and drought.
