Finding attractive shrubs to grow in shady parts of your garden is no longer a problem with the Duke Gardens Plum Yew. This attractive evergreen thrives in full or partial shade, and it tolerates humidity and heat much better than the similar-looking yew tree. This makes it a top choice in the warmest parts of the country - zones 8 and 9. It is a naturally-dwarf plant growing no more than 4 feet tall and 6 feet wide after 10 years, and slowly adding several inches a year after that. It is an ideal choice for those shady places in your garden, beneath trees, or on the north side of buildings and walls. It has soft, dark-green foliage resembling a yew tree, and the new spring growth is bright green. This is an ideal plant for all those shady areas, either as a specimen, a hedge, or for mass-planting. - Top-quality shade-loving evergreen - Attractive soft, deep-green foliage - Grows well even in full shade - Upright, vase-shaped natural form - Replacement for yew in zones 8 and 9 The Duke Gardens Plum Yew grows best in moist, well-drained soil, but it grows well, without problems in most soils. Once established it is moderately drought resistant, and it is also generally pest and disease free, and rarely bothered by deer. With a naturally-dense form, this shrub needs no trimming, but it can be trimmed for neater shapes, or to create a low hedge along a shady path. In cooler zones it will also grow well in full sun.
