FAST GROWING EVERGREEN: When you need a large wind and sound break or a large screen the Thuja Green Giant is the perfect candidate. With an exceptionally fast growth rate, resiliency to tough weather conditions and thick evergreen foliage it's hard to beat this tree! Once fully mature you can expect it to reach 20 - 40 feet tall while spanning 6-12 feet in diameter. DENSE FOLIAGE: With thick foliage capable of blocking light, sound, wind and more with a natural appearance, unlike a fence. The only issue you may run into are the mature heights of this tree. With its upright growth habit this is the most popular and widely planted tree to be used for privacy. PRUNING SEASON: Your goals are the biggest deciding factor when it comes down to deciding when to prune. Do you want to reduce the overall size, maintain a perfect pyramidal shape or simply remove undergrowth? You will want to prune in mid-summer while the plant still has time to grow new shoots before winter sets in. Cutting too deeply may lead to bear spots. Scroll down for more info! USDA ZONES: The Green Giant Arborvitae is hardy in zones 5a-8b. Lovers of full sun but is also very tolerable of part shade conditions. Light afternoon shade in hot summer climates will prevent extreme sun damage. Once it has arrived water heavily 2 times per week during the first growing season to promote healthy root formation. POTTED PLANT: Ships as a 2.5 gallon pot with soil from the Alabama Gulfcoast. This plant is unavailable to ship to Hawaii and Alaska. Thuja Occidentalis.
