This upright deciduous, occasionally semi-, shrub s creamy-white, fragrant flowers. Its dark green, glossy foliage is accompanied by bright yellow new growth, giving it a two-tone effect. This fast grower will reach 8-10 feet high although it can be trimmed to any height down to waist high. Its dense and bushy characteristics make it ideal for a privacy screen, wind screen, and hedging, while adding great color to your garden. Another wonderful Ligustrum which makes an excellent large hedge, as well as a nice colorful accent plant. Like most any Ligustrum, can be pruned trimmed to maintain a desired shape or size. Has very dark, deep, glossy green leaves - new growth is bright yellow turning to green with age During the spring summer growing season, Howardi has almost a two-toned look with the brilliant yellow new growth, combined with the dark, glossy green of older, mature foliage. Moderate growth rate &, high disease resistance makes this shrub a perfect choice for any landscape. Prefers full sun, but will do well in part shade as well. This low-maintenance needs a regular water schedule to ensure the growth of a mature root system. After the mature root system is established, watering is needed occasionally, except during a drought, watering is needed regularly. Responds well to pruning. Shearing is recommended 2-3 per year to maintain desired shape. Mulching is recommended to detour weeds, retain moisture, and keep temperatures low. With an upright, broad and bushy form, Howardii Golden ligustrum makes a great -size hedge, and looks equally nice by itself as an accent planting in foundation plantings or landscape beds and islands.
