PARISObserved on: 1990/2000License: S.P.A.D.E.M. PARISEditor: S.P.A.D.E.M. PARISLimited edition of 250 !!!Vincent Willem van Gogh (Dutch: [ vlnsent llem van cx] (About this soundlisten); [footnote 1] March 30, 1853 - July 29, 1890) was a Dutch post-impressionist painter who posthumously became one of the most famous and influential figures in Art History West. During the decade, he created around 2,100 works of art, including around 860 oil paintings, most of them from the last two years of his life. These include landscapes, still lifes, portraits and self-portraits, and are characterized by bold colors and a dramatic, impulsive and expressive brush that have contributed to the foundations of modern art. He was not commercially successful, struggling with severe depression and poverty, which eventually led to his suicide at the age of thirty-seven.Van Gogh suffered from psychotic episodes and delusions, and while he was concerned about his mental stability, he often neglected his physical health, did not eat properly, and drank heavily. His friendship with Gauguin ended after he confronted the razor, when in rage he cut off part of his left ear. He spent time in psychiatric hospitals, including a period at Saint-Rémy. After he quit and moved to Auberge Ravoux in Auvers-sur-Oise near Paris, he found himself under the care of the homeopathic doctor Paul Gacheta. His depression continued, and on July 27, 1890, Van Gogh reportedly shot himself in the chest with a revolver, dying of his injuries two days later.Van Gogh was not commercially successful in his lifetime and was considered a madman and a failure. Because he only became famous after his suicide, he was seen in the public imagination as a misunderstood genius. [6] His reputation grew in the early 1900s when elements of his style were incorporated by fauves and German expressionists. Over the decades that followed, he achieved wide critical and commercial success and is remembered as an important but tragic painter whose restless personality embodies the romantic ideal of the martyred artist. Today, Van Gogh's works are among the most expensive paintings ever sold in the world, and his legacy is honored by the museum in his name, the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam, which houses the world's largest collection of his paintings and drawingsNumbering of the shipped piece can differ!
