The plant is also great for mass plantings, and meadows. Dianthus Barbatus seeds are easy to germinate, and Sweet William flower grows fast preferring full sun and moist, well-drained soil, but in areas with extremely hot summers, the plant benefits from growing in partial shade. Shearing spent blossoms will encourage blooms for another year. Sweet William makes a superb cut flower with a vase life of 7 to 10 days.
