Partial Sun to Full Sun (At Least 5 Hours of Direct Sunlight)Mature Height 4 - 5 FeetMature Spread 4 - 5 FeetGrowing Zones 4 - 8Spirea Nipponica Snowmound, otherwise known as Snowmound Spirea,' is a beautiful shrub with gorgeous drooping flowers thatll add a romantic feel to your outdoor space! Contrasted with the dark, green foliage, the multi-bloom flowers bloom from mid to late May. Snowmound Spirea can grow from 4 to 5 feet in height and 4 to 5 feet in width allowing it to be a perfect flowering shrub for hedges, walkways, and accent features in a romantic garden atmosphere. Snowmound Spirea is a dense, compact, and resistant perennial. Most comfortable in USDA hardiness zones 3 through 9, the leaves of this shrub fall in winter time, leaving behind its woody stems that bud again in spring. Snowmound Spirea is native to the island of Shikoku, Japan and is often used in a romantic, zen garden setting. The flowers of Snowmound Spirea are mildly fragrant. Though Snowmound Spirea is not seriously affected by any specific plant diseases or insects, the place is susceptible to common insects or disease such as aphids, powdery mildew, and leaf spot.Snowmound Spirea CareWhen planting and caring for Snowmound Spirea, it is important to note that the shrub prefers to grow under light shade if planted in extreme summer weather. The shrub can tolerate full sun to partial shade. Snowmound Spirea will thrive in well-drained and fertile outdoor soil but can tolerate most soil. IF fertilizing, we recommend a well-balanced, organic fertilizer (10-10-10) with care not to feed too much nitrogen. For Snowmound Spirea, you should prune at the end of the winter or very early spring to encourage new flowering as Spirea prefers to flower on new wood. When in bloom, prune away old, flowered clusters. Also, we recommend pruning older, dead woody stems at soil level. Snowmound Spirea SpacingAs Snowmound Spirea grows fairly tall and wide, you should be thoughtful about placing the plant in an area with enough room to grow to about 6 feet in width and 6 feet in height. Snowmound Spirea can mature to a large size, so placing the plant with about 6 feet of space in diameter will encourage the shrub to mature fully.Snowmound Spirea InformationUSDA Hardiness Zones: 4 - 8Plant Type: Light Exposure: Partial Sun to Full Sun (At Least 5 Hours of Direct Sunlight)Mature Height: 4 - 5 FeetMature Spread: 4 - 5 FeetSpacing: 4 - 5 FeetHabit: SpreadingFlower Color(s): WhiteFlower Description: Bloom Period: Mid to late MayFoliage Type: DeciduousFoliage Color(s): GreenFoliage Description: Dark GreenSeasonal Interest: Spring FloweringWatering: AverageResists: DeerTolerates: DroughtAttracts: ButterfliesContainer Role: Uses: Borders, Groundcovers, Hedges & Privacy, Mass Planting, Wildlife GardensFeatures: Attracts Pollinators, Cut FlowersBrand: Common Name: Snowmound SpireaOther Name(s): Scientific Name: SPIRAEA NIPPONICA `SNOWMOUND` | Bushes > Spirea Plant Addicts 1001118-pc
