This ornamental onion blooms later than most Alliums, in mid-summer rather than spring. With glossy grass-like foliage that forms deep green clumps, this perennial shows off multiple flower globes as summer progresses. Each clump looks like a very full bouquet of rosy-violet toned globes. Growing from a rhizome that sends out small bulbs, this Allium is sold as a plant which looks good all season, not just when in bloom. Once settled, it can be divided in fall or spring if you want it to multiply, but you will not have to worry much about self-seeding. This Allium stays put, and it adds a lot of great color (and whimsical flower form), mid-season.Plant Type: PerennialZone: 4 - 8Light Requ's: sun - partial shadeBlooms: July - AugustGrowth Habit: clumpingFoliage: dark green, grass-like, glossyDimensions: 20.00in high, 4.00in high on delivery, spreads 15.00inCare: Be sure to give this Allium good sun with a bit of afternoon shade. After blooms have faded, they can be deadheaded. Keep leaves intact following this plant's bloom time, to energize the plant for the next season. As long as its soil drains well, this plant's rhizomes and the small bulbs they send out will do their work underground to prepare for the next blooming season.Note: Any accessories pictured are not included, for illustrative purposes only.
