Mona Lavender is a sterile,, non invasive hybrid type of Plecaranthus that does not spread beyond the intended growing area The short bushy growth habit and interesting and unusual leaf color and texture make it an excellent for potted culture, and lightly shaded tropical locations. It is a short growing, flowering perennial with interersting, unusually colored purple and green leaves that add texture and interest when the plant is not in bloom. The leaves are an interesting purplish green on the top side, and eggplant purple on the reverse. Blooms are tall, long lasting spikes of bright lavender tubes that appear in a long lasting cycle from late spring to fall. Little to no viable seed is produced by this hybrid. It is a quick to establish, low maintenance plant that makes an excellent gift for a gardener of any skill level. Mona Lavender can be acclimated to grow indoors if the right high light, warm environment that it needs to thrive can be provided.
