Hosta 'Blue Mouse Ears'The name really fits this miniature, fun, easy-to-grow hosta. It grows into a small mound of round, slightly cupped, blue-green leaves. The leaves of 'Blue Mouse Ears' are extremely thick and almost feel plastic-like. Very cool!Wonderful in containers or used in the front garden border. The flowers are another outstanding feature of this hosta. They appear on stocky scapes close to the plant and look like little lavender balloons! Very cute! The hostas look especially nice this year, we just had another good soaking rain, so 'Blue Mouse Ears' is ready to arrive to make you smile. We're shipping 1 mature plant with each order. This mature division is shipped bare-root. We remove the pot and gently remove the soil. Then, the roots are carefully wrapped in moist newspaper and wrapped in plastic wrap. Then, the leaves are wrapped in newspaper too. This procedure helps keep the leaves and the bare roots fresh and alive. Once received, they will need to be potted or planted in a garden bed and watered. Easy garden planting instructions are included on the packing slip.Hello, my name is John. I am the owner of Quest Creek Gardens and have been growing hostas for years. I am an award-winning member of the American Hosta Society and an American Hosta Society Senior Judge. You can buy your hostas from me with confidence. We only ship our plants USPS Priority Mail, which is more expensive, but you get them in just a few days. The plant is happy and you are happy and that makes us happy!Quest Creek is a New York State registered and inspected small, specialty plant nursery. If you have any questions or need additional information please contact me. Thank you!Hosta Planting Tips:For hostas to thrive and reach their full potential they need a constant moisture supply throughout the growing season and a soil rich in organic matter. Hosta located in dryer soils will grow more slowly, put out fewer leaves and not look as lush especially during the summer months. You can improve the location by digging deep and incorporating as much as 50% compost to the soil mix that goes back into the hole.Hosta do best with a few hours of direct sun. Morning sun is best!We recommend fertilizer periodically for your hostas from the early part of the growing season into mid-summer. After mid-summer, it's best to reduce and then stop fertilization. Whether granular, liquid, or slow-release fertilizer, follow the directions carefully.
