The Little Gem Magnolia tree is a gorgeous southern magnolia variety. Also known as the Dwarf Southern Magnolia, this evergreen features year-round attractive foliage. Its smaller-sized leaves have a leathery dark green glossy top with a fuzzy rusty-brown underside, giving you a unique bi-colored effect. The hardy tree has a bronze brown bark all year long that looks nice paired with the glossy leaves. In the early spring, your Magnolia grandiflora 'Little Gem' will produce creamy white saucer-shaped flowers 4-6 inches wide. These large fragrant beauties bloom from early spring to the early summer season. In the late summer to early fall the soft white blooms eventually give way to spherical cone-like fruiting clusters. At full maturity, it releases coated red seeds on slender threads perfect for birds to munch on.
