Maiden Grass or Silver Grass is a sun loving ornamental grass. It has a fountain like form and adds great texture and interest to any landscape or sun loving garden. In the spring and early summer it produces white flower plumes. The foliage is green to silver like color. In the fall and winter it turns a nice golden yellow color. That can be pruned down to 4 inches from the ground and will put on new shoots in the spring. Plant this in a container or any full sun part of your landscape and garden. This plant is very easy to grown and has low maintenance needs. Once established, this plant is very drought tolerant. Gracillimus Maiden Grass is a large, tough ornamental grass that can be used in drifts to create a dramatic sweep over a large space or be used as one element in a mixed shrub border. It grows taller and wider each year, reaching an impressive 6 feet tall and 4-5 feet wide over time. The silvery blooms will tower over the plant reaching an impressive 8 feet tall. In late summer slivery fan-shaped plumes start a show that persists through the winter. Ornamental grasses are deeply rooted and therefore excellent for erosion control on hills. They have low to average water needs once established and require just one early spring pruning.
