They are associated with the book Kit Saves the Day. Red plastic lantern with metal handle. Turns on and off. Requires two AAA batteries (included). American Girl on bottom. Kit's Lantern Instructions. 2001 Pleasant Company. Kit's Summer Story brochure. 2001 Pleasant Company. I did test the lantern and it does work as shown in the photos. Once in a while the bulb doesn't light immediately and the bulb just needs a light tap.
