Is there a more stunningly intricate and interesting flower for inside than the flower of an orchid? Phalaenopsis orchids are commonly known as simply phals or moth orchids and that is no random thing. The unique shape of the broad-petaled flower resembles a moth with its wings wide open. In fact, the name Phalaenopsis is based on an ancient Greek word meaning ""a kind of moth." Our novelty Phalaenopsis orchids have interesting color features, such as white with White splatter (harlequin). Other possibilities include orchids with gold tones or those with orange tones. The flowers usually last two to three months. The leaves are broad, glossy and an attractive shade of green, adding a lovely contrast to the vivid floral color. The leaves are succulent-like, storing water for the plant and contributing to its low-maintenance nature. It's not uncommon for the foliage to remain green all year, making the Phalaenopsis orchid a perpetual source of beauty in your home. Phalaenopsis orchids are some of the easiest flowering plants and houseplants to care for. Phals bloom during consistently cool periods, as early as late fall and into spring. The foliage actively grows during warm periods. It enjoys bright, indirect light and it should be watered once a week or two. Use an orchid-specific fertilizer every two weeks during the Summer months and once a month in Winter. You can maintain optimal humidity by locating in a more humid room, place on a pebble tray or use a humidifier.
