Full Sun (At Least 6 Hours Of Direct Sunlight)Mature Height 6 - 8 InchesMature Spread 12 - 15 InchesGrowing Zones 3 - 8With its tightly packed, scalloped, dusty blue-green leaves and dense cluster of hot pink fall blooms, the October Daphne Sedum (Sedum sieboldii) is a gorgeous succulent perennial for the low-maintenance garden or container. This sun-loving Sedum grows 6-8 inches tall and can spread 12-15 inches wide, making it an ideal plant for a rock garden, mixed container, or the border of a walking path or garden. Like other succulents, the October Daphne Sedum requires little more than the occasional deep watering or rain. In colder temperatures, the leaves may even deepen their color, continuing to create fall and winter interest. The October Daphne Sedum is ideal for hot, dry garden areas that may have less access to water. As Sedums are typically deer resistant, the October Daphne is an ideal choice for sunny areas that struggle with herbivory. The October Daphne Sedum also grows well in containers as the spiller with plenty of drainage. Being extremely drought tolerant, this Sedum can be used to create low-maintenance planters in sunny, hot regions.October Daphne Sedum CareLike other Sedums, the October Daphne can grow well in poorer soils given that they have adequate drainage. Water deeply but infrequently, allowing the soil to dry out in between waterings. Plant the October Daphne Sedum in a hole that is the same size as the root ball. Sedums perform best in full sun with access to at least 6 hours of direct sun a day. In colder regions, Sedum may die back in the winter. In the early spring, trim back dried up stems and flower heads before new growth appears. If grown in lower light or rich soils, Sedum may become leggy, requiring trimming in the summer to prevent the stems from splitting or breaking. October Daphne Sedum SpacingTo grow as a standalone plant, plant the October Daphne at least 1 foot away from other plants. To create a mass planting, place Sedums slightly closer together. When planting in a container, choose a pot that is a bit bigger than the root ball and plant the October Daphne with other drought-tolerant plants.October Daphne Sedum InformationUSDA Hardiness Zones: 3 - 8Plant Type: PerennialLight Exposure: Full Sun (At Least 6 Hours Of Direct Sunlight)Mature Height: 6 - 8 InchesMature Spread: 12 - 15 InchesSpacing: 12 - 15 InchesHabit: MoundedFlower Color(s): PinkFlower Description: Bloom Period: SummerFoliage Type: DeciduousFoliage Color(s): Blue, SilverFoliage Description: Seasonal Interest: Summer Flowering, Fall InterestWatering: LowResists: Rabbit, Disease, Pests & InsectsTolerates: DroughtAttracts: ButterfliesContainer Role: Uses: Borders, ContainersFeatures: Foliage InterestBrand: Common Name: October Daphne SedumOther Name(s): October Daphne SedumScientific Name: Sedum sieboldii | Perennials > Sedum Plant Addicts 1001694-pc
