Blue American Agaves first originated in dry areas of Mexico and are now becoming popular all over America, up to growing zone 8 when planted outdoors. They will adapt to dry, sandy soils and thrive in droughts, extreme heat and humidity. No matter what type of soil you have, sandy and rocky or heavy with clay the American Blue Agave will adapt to it without a fuss and bring unique beauty to your landscape with a variety of ornamental functions, including use as ground covers or in rock gardens. The Blue American Agave is most known for its large, thick and fleshy leaves that stem from a central crown and arch over towards the ends. They have an unforgettable blue green hue that sets them apart from other plants, and exotic spikey teeth on the edges. Its very common to plant Blue American Agaves in containers to use them as accent pieces for porches and patios. When used to frame entryways their blue green hue gives homes an inviting and charming look. If you live in a colder area than growing zone 8, simply plant your Agave in a pot and bring it indoors once the weather gets cold. Its energetic leaves and vibrant color will keep you company all winter long. They can be used as focal points in the garden to draw attention or as the center of attention and pairs great with other plants. Theyre also commonly used as border rows, and by growing 4 to 6 feet tall they become large enough to be used as a privacy hedge or to hide unsightly objects like AC units. The Blue American Agave is a succulent, so it stores water in its leaves to use when it needs a drink, meaning this plant essentially takes care of itself, leaving little to no maintenance for you. | Blue American Agave Plant, 3 Gal- The Nation's Most Drought Tolerant Plant.
