Partial Shade to Partial Sun (3 - 6 Hours Of Direct Sunlight)Mature Height 8 - 10 InchesMature Spread 8 - 10 InchesGrowing Zones 3 - 9Big, scalloped evergreen leaves so purple they are almost black hence its name. In May it produces tall 28 inch flower spikes with white bell-like blooms which provide an excellent contrast to the foliage that can reach a height of 8 to 10 inches with an 18 to 22 inch spread. This perennial continues to perform late into the season when most of the others have already finished. Northern Exposure is low maintenance, easy to care for, requires no deadheading, is drought tolerant and deer resistant. Its low, mounding growth habit makes it a perfect candidate for a perennial border, tree underplanting, walkway planting or in a pot or container. In areas where the temperature falls below freezing for an extended period of time, plants in pots or containers would have to be brought inside away from the severe cold. Winter hardy in zones 3 to 9. Northern Exposure™ Black Coral Bells CareThis perennial is tolerant of a wide range of soils but prefers a rich, well-draining soil where it can receive at least 4 to 6 hours of direct sunlight. Will do well in full sun, partial sun and shade. It does best in soil where the pH is neutral or slightly acidic. Cutting back of spent flower stalks is recommended to encourage reblooming. Removal of dead or tattered leaves in late winter or early spring is suggested to stimulate new growth. Plants grown in containers or pots should be moved inside for the winter to a cold but above freezing area. Northern Exposure™ Black Coral Bells SpacingNorthern Exposure should be spaced at a distance of 1 to 2 feet apart and would look amazing planted en masse, in a pot, container or window box, and would be wonderful planted along a walkway or pathway that can be kept snow-free in winter.Northern Exposure™ Black Coral Bells InformationUSDA Hardiness Zones: 3 - 9Plant Type: Light Exposure: Partial Shade to Partial Sun (3 - 6 Hours Of Direct Sunlight)Mature Height: 8 - 10 InchesMature Spread: 18 - 22 InchesSpacing: 18 - 22 InchesHabit: MoundedFlower Color(s): WhiteFlower Description: Bloom Period: Foliage Type: HerbaceousFoliage Color(s): PurpleFoliage Description: Seasonal Interest: Summer FloweringWatering: AverageResists: DeerTolerates: DroughtAttracts: ButterfliesContainer Role: Uses: Borders, Containers, Groundcovers, Mass Planting, Wildlife GardensFeatures: Attracts Pollinators, Foliage Interest, Low MaintenanceBrand: Plants That WorkCommon Name: Northern Exposure™ Black Coral BellsOther Name(s): Scientific Name: HEUCHERA NORTHERN EXPOSURE `BLACK` | Perennials > Coral Bells Plants That Work 1011823-pc
