Like other lilacs, the James Macfarlane is a low-maintenance, deciduous shrub. It grows 8-10 ft. tall with a similar spread and is ideal for planting as a flowering hedge or privacy screen. Its green foliage also provides a nice backdrop for perennial beds. It grows best in full sun.
