The All Summer Beauty Hydrangea is a fabulous classic variety of mophead hydrangeas that is hardier than most, blooming well without winter protection even in zone 5. It is unique in blooming both on older wood, with flowers starting in June, and on newer wood, with flowers starting in August. This way it really does bloom all summer, and yes, it really is a beauty too. With a full, rounded form just 3 to 4 feet tall and wide, it will fit along the north side of your home, or in the dappled shade from trees, bringing color to those difficult places other plants dont work in. For classic hydrangea beauty, this is the plant you want. - Big mophead blooms all summer and fall - Blue, purple pink or red, depending on your soil - Blooms on both old and new growth - Ideal choice for north-facing beds and partial shade - Rich deep-green foliage to the ground Grow your All Summer Beauty Hydrangea in soil enriched with organic material and mulch in early spring with a 3-inch layer of compost, manure or rotted leaves. Keep well-watered, and prune lightly in spring. This plant will have blue flowers in strongly-acidic soil, purple flowers in mildly-acid soil, and pink to red flowers in neutral to alkaline soil. Grow in pots in acidic potting soil for the best blue colors if you dont have acid soil in your garden.
