Description

There is probably not a better hot summer perennial for the Deep South than this genus. It thrives in full sun with good drainage. And there is nothing more refreshing in our 100 heat than the cool blues and whites of Lilies-of-the-Nile. This is a white flowering stain that comes fairly true from seed with flower stalks of 2-3 ft. As with all Agapanthus they prefer an almost neutral pH and they appreciate an annual application of lime, since the genus is native to South Africa. Grow in full sun and leaves will remain evergreen down to the mid-20's (-5°C) A delightful Agapanthus variety with clusters of pure white, bell-shaped flowers on stalks above neat, clumps of grassy-textured foliage. Makes a great warm season patio container plant or perennial color accent in outdoor beds. Getty White Agapanthus plants are beautiful alongside roadsides inter-planted with blue colored Agapanthus blooms. The enormously tall flower stems of the Getty White Agapanthus are seaside resort favorites, because they are salt water tolerant. The white color of the Getty White Agapanthus plant stands out in your landscape, highlighting the surrounding plants and shining brightly in dark areas. The Getty White Agapanthus flower emerges into a sparkling spectacle that is florally dazzling against a dark green backdrop of tropical leaves such as Canna or Banana trees. The Getty White Agapanthus plant forms large clumps of bulbs that eventually produce multiple stems of flowers that can grow 3-4 feet tall, but the leaves normally form a rosette approximately one foot tall. The Getty White Agapanthus plants are well adapted to direct sunshine or shade and thrive outside in the landscape.
