The National Weather Service has fine-tuned their initial winter storm watch area issued yesterday. Most of the winter storm watch area has now become either a winter storm warning or a winter weather advisory.

Lake-effect snow occurs when the water temperatures of the lake are warmer than the air temperatures that blow above it, according to the National Weather Service.
