The Writers Guild of America strike, which has disrupted programming and other operations for Hollywood media companies, will come to an end Wednesday after both sides agreed to a tentative deal, the union said.

Leaders of Hollywood's unions declared the writers strike over, after agreeing to a contract with film and television studios five months after the boycott began.

After 148 days, the Writers Guild of America voted to end the strike, following a tentative deal with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers.

The truce came nearly five months after over 10,000 Writers Guild of America members went on strike on May 2. Writers won't return to work right away, and actors are still on strike.
