At least 51 dead in Texas floods, with dozens still missing from summer camp
In Kerr County, which has been the most impacted, at least 43 people are dead and 27 children remain missing tonight after floodwaters swept through Camp Mystic, a Christian summer camp for girls. The statewide death toll thus far stands at 51 people. The number of deaths blamed on the flooding in Texas has risen to 51 tonight.

As in Friday’s flooding, in 1987, five to 10 inches of rain fell in the upper headwaters of the Guadalupe River basin. In Hunt, Texas, where the Guadalupe River forks, over seven inches had fallen since Thursday afternoon, which was the highest total at the site since the early 1990s.
