The US has 800 confirmed cases of measles, a 12% increase from the week prior in an outbreak that has reached nearly half the country.

Measles cases rose to a total of 800 patients so far in 2025 as of Thursday in 25 U.S. jurisdictions, including Texas and New Mexico, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said today, up from 712 cases reported as of April 10.

State health officials said fewer than 30 of the cases identified by the state were considered "actively infectious."

The Texas health department reported 561 cases of measles in the state on Tuesday, an increase of 20 from April 11, as the U.S. government said it was sending seven people to the state to help battle the outbreak of the childhood disease. Gabe Singer reports.
