It’s been barely a day since Milton exited the Florida Peninsula after roaring ashore with a destructive storm surge, 100-plus mph winds, a 1,000-year rain event in the Tampa Bay area and a slew of strong tornadoes. Now a new storm may be brewing, but it’s too early to tell if and when it might form.

As people in Florida pick up the pieces from Hurricane Milton, there was Tropical Storm Leslie far out to sea and a tropical wave.

Meteorologists have found that AI forecasts of hurricanes are generated much more quickly than traditional methods.

A storm system in the Atlantic could potentially strengthen into a tropical depression as it heads towards the Caribbean later this week, according to the National Hurricane Center.

For now, the system does not appear to be a threat to the mainland U.S. Still, the Lesser Antilles, Puerto Rico, Hispaniola and southeast Bahamas should remain on guard.
