Channel 9 meteorologists have issued a “Weather Alert Day” for Monday due to the storms’ impact. One primary concern from the storms is over localized flooding, with some areas set to receive inches of rain. Heavy rain is moving off the coast, and we’ll see scattered showers and downpours through midday.

This Weather Impact Alert includes Thursday afternoon and evening.

Severe storms are expected this afternoon and evening for the Western Carolinas, including the Charlotte metro area, with threats including large hail, damaging wind, heavy rain and isolated tornadoes.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The First Coast News weather team is issuing a Weather Impact Alert through Monday night for the chance of widespread rain and scattered thunderstorms each day. Conditions will start to dry out by Tuesday, with rain chances being nearly zero by mid-week.

Scattered thunderstorms are likely late Thursday afternoon through the evening (especially in the 4-11 p.m. timeframe). A few storm could contain downpours, damaging winds, and large hail. There is the potential for golf ball size hail in spots, especially in the black shaded area in the above graphic. The tornado risk is currently low.

A NEXT Weather Alert is in effect Monday as strong to severe storms bring the threat of flooding, damaging winds and isolated tornadoes across South Florida.

NEXT Weather meteorologist Dave Warren says the rain tracker is indicating the potential for downpours, especially around 8 p.m. - 9 p.m. and then around 10 p.m. - 11 p.m.

Damaging wind as these storms move through the area, a brief tornado can't be ruled out. Rainfall with the storms may be up to 4 inches which will lead to minor street flooding.

Flood Threat and severe storm potential across South Florida continues through the evening hours. An isolated strong to severe storm is still possible.
