Downed trees and fallen limbs damaged electrical equipment throughout the Philly region. More than 140,000 customers still lack service.

A potent and rapidly moving thunderstorm that generated winds gusting past 55 mph ripped down trees and wires and quickly knocked out power to more than 275,000 Peco customers late Thursday afternoon.

The severe weather threat in the Philadelphia region is over, but the storms knocked out power for thousands in the Delaware Valley on Thursday night.
