Louis DeJoy had previously announced he would be stepping away as Postmaster General of the US Postal Service. On Monday, he made it official when he resigned from the position.

Louis DeJoy said earlier this month that he had asked the government efficiency team led by Elon Musk for assistance with a number of issues.

Deputy Postmaster General Doug Tulino will take on the role until the Postal Service Board of Governors names a permanent replacement for DeJoy, who spent five years in the position.
