The Justice Department has charged a Pakistani national with allegedly plotting to attack Jews in New York on the anniversary of the October 7 terror attacks in Israel.

Federal prosecutors say Asif Merchant committed an act of terrorism by scheming to try and assassinate U.S. politicians and government officials.

A Pakistani national was charged with plotting a terrorist attack on a Jewish center in New York City on or around the first-year anniversary of Hamas’s October 7 attack on Israel, the Department of Justice announced on Friday.
