NEW DELHI (AP) — Indian lawmakers sat in the last session before moving to a new Parliament building and even the opposition parties responded to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call Monday that saw him lauding India’s parliamentary history and the recently concluded Group of 20 summit.

The Parliament, which is often referred to as the soul of Indian democracy, will shift to a new building on Tuesday on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi. Earlier, on Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the Lok Sabha in the old Parliament building and recalled the country's Parliamentary journey of 75 years.

The new Parliament building in India showcases the country's democratic traditions and aspirations. The Constitution Hall displays exhibits depicting the growth of democracy, and the building itself is inspired by the Sri Yantra.

The new Parliament building has been designated as the Parliament House of India, a Lok Sabha Secretariat notification said
