The New York Mets jumped out to a 3-0 lead against the Washington Nationals thanks to a Juan Soto home run, but a fan made a special play.

With his former team leading 3-1 in the third inning, facing starter MacKenzie Gore, who the San Diego Padres traded to Washington for Soto in 2022, Soto hit a hanging slider over the wall in left field to bring the Mets within one run of the Nationals.

In a shocking turn of events, Mets superstar Juan Soto -- who posted a .421 OBP and .953 OPS during the first seven years of his big league career as he established himself as one of the best hitters on the planet -- again looks like the hitter he was from 2018 to 2024.

On a day Pete Alonso and Jeff McNeil each blasted two homers, it was Soto on base that was easy to overlook in the 13-5 victory over the Rockies at Coors Field. The Mets hadn’t had a player reach base six times in a game since Alonso on Aug. 15, 2019.
