A man pled guilty Tuesday to the death of Marcus Donald, an inmate who was killed in his cell at the Shelby County Jail last year. Donald’s cellmate, Stephen Robinson, is accused of strangling him to death.

Prosecutors said the former corrections officers had made false statements to investigators after three of them assaulted Quantez Burks, 37, in March 2022.

Five former correctional officers from West Virginia's Southern Regional Jail have been indicted by a federal grand jury over the fatal beating of Quantez Burks.
