KILAUEA, Hawaii (Island News) – The 42nd episode in Halema’uma’u Kilauea summit began on Sunday afternoon, according to USGS.
An ashfall advisory has been issued for North and East Hawaii Island as a precaution after the widespread tephra fallout from Episode 41.
But some refused to evacuate during the hazardous lava fountaining episode.
Since late 2024, Klauea has unleashed 42 episodic fountaining events, each typically lasting a day or less, separated by recharging pauses like the recent 19-day lull after Episode 41.
The eruption pattern is getting more predictable, but other aspects like ashfall, are not.
