After dominating a rap beef against Drake, Kendrick Lamar has been announced as the Super Bowl LIX halftime performing act. Co-signed by the culture and even NFL Commissioner Roger Godell, Mr. Morale will light up the stage on football’s biggest night of the year.

The NFL, Apple Music and Roc Nation announced Sunday that Lamar would lead the halftime festivities from the Caesars Superdome on Feb. 9. The rap megastar, who has won 17 Grammys, said he’s looking forward to bringing hip-hop to the NFL's championship game, where he performed as a guest artist with Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg in 2022.

The rumor was initially sparked by comments on a live stream from rapper Wack 100 claiming Drake was using the NFL to try to restrict Lamar within his upcoming performance. Cease-and-desists have been present throughout some of the Drake and Kendrick Lamar rap battle back and forth.

This weekend, in a chatroom on the Clubhouse app, Wack claimed, “ [Drake] served a cease-and-desist [to] Kendrick Lamar so he can’t perform ‘Not Like Us,’” in an exchange with another Clubhouse user,

It should go without saying that Drake was playing close attention to the celebs who supported Kendrick Lamar during their highly-publicized feud.

People just don’t want the feud between Drake and Kendrick Lamar to be over, as seemingly every week, someone makes a new claim about either artist.

Drake won’t be trying to stop Kendrick Lamar from playing his megahit “Not Like Us” at the Super Bowl halftime show next year. “The rumors are completely false,” a rep said.
