Less than 24 hours after a man was killed and a person taken into custody in a shooting at a Kansas City home, police on Friday identified the victim as a 50-year old John M. Buckley. Buckley’s killing comes as Kansas City is on the brink of its deadliest year — yet again.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A suspect has been charged in connection to Thursday afternoon’s deadly shooting in south Kansas City. Jackson County prosecutors on Friday charged Gregory J. Foster with second-degree murder and armed criminal action.

Daniel is accused of killing a man identified by police Thursday as 21-year-old Jayden James, a resident of the neighborhood. During a police interview, Daniel allegedly admitted to shooting at two men but said he did so because they were pointing guns at him and he thought they had been threatening his sister.
