Israel’s military says it has encircled Jabalya, northern Gaza, after seeing signs of Hamas rebuilding, despite nearly a year of fighting and strikes in the territory.

Palestinian officials say an Israeli strike on a mosque in the Gaza Strip has killed at least 19 people. Israel meanwhile intensified its bombardment of northern Gaza and southern Beirut on Sunday in its widening war on Iran-allied militant groups across the region.

Meanwhile, Israeli tanks pushed into the northern Gaza areas of Beit Lahiya and Jabalia overnight, and planes hit several houses, killing at least 20 people, according to medics. The Israeli military said its forces have encircled the area Jabalia, the focus of its operations.
