There are now seven separate weather warnings in place for counties in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland between Saturday evening and Monday morning as a result of Storm Herminia, which was named by the Spanish Met Office on Friday as Ireland was still reeling from the devastating impact of Storm Eowyn.

We’re about to see the back of Storm Eowyn – but the miserable UK weather isn’t going with it. Eowyn (pronounced ‘Ay-oh-win’) pelted the UK yesterday with record-breaking 114mph winds – the equivalent of a Category 3 hurricane.

Storm Eowyn is causing chaos in Glasgow as winds of up to 90mph are expected this afternoon. Trains, buses and the Subway are all shut down and people were instructed by Police Scotland and the Scottish Government to stay at home while a rare red weather alert is in place until 5pm for the central belt.
