A preliminary magnitude 4.7 earthquake was registered near Los Angeles, California on Thursday morning. The USGS reported the center near Malibu.

A 4.7-magnitude earthquake struck north of Malibu on Thursday morning, Sept. 12, sending tremors through most of Los Angeles County. The quake struck at 7:28 a.m. more than 4 miles north of the coastal city at a depth of 7.2 miles, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
