Gardai moved in to nab an €8 million haul of suspected heroin just before it was to be flown out of an airport, it has emerged. Sources have told The Irish Mirror that the plane was about to fly out of Weston Airport on the Dublin/Kildare border when gardai from the Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau made their move this afternoon.

Detectives are investigating if 'The Family' gang were involved in a major plot to smuggle heroin into Ireland after the pilot of a light-aircraft was arrested over an €8m drugs haul.On Friday morning gardaí seized around 58 kilos of heroin at Weston Airport in west Dublin as part of an intelligence led operation.
