In Denver itself one person was killed and six people injured in a string of weekend shootings and stabbings, police said.

DENVER (KDVR) — While officers with the Denver Police Department were providing aid to a man an officer shot on Aug. 3, police say more shots were fired from a separate group of people nearby.

In total, Denver Police said they’ve responded to more than 30 shootings so far this year in the entire downtown area. At least four have been fatal. Is that a lot? Less than most years?
