The Santa Fe district attorney is stepping away from prosecuting the fatal on-set "Rust" shooting, the office announced Wednesday.

Safety coordinator and assistant director David Halls also must pay a $500 fine, complete a gun-safety course and community service after agreeing to the conviction related to a death on a movie set.

If convicted of involuntary manslaughter, Alec Baldwin could face a maximum penalty of 18 months in prison and fines.
