Five-seed Alabama softball was eliminated by nine-seed Stanford on Friday night, losing a pitcher’s duel 2-0. The Tide went winless at the Women’s College World Series while getting one hit by Cardinal pitching.

The Alabama Crimson Tide softball team’s season came to an end after falling to the Stanford Cardinal in the Women’s College World Series.

Fouts delivered a gutsy performance in her final game for Alabama (45-22), which went 0-2 in Oklahoma City, having lost 10-5 to fourth-seeded Tennessee in the WCWS opener a day earlier. The Tide were the first to be knocked out of the eight-team field in Oklahoma City.

Northwestern was aiming for its seventh WCWS appearance and second in a row but dropped the last two games of a best-of-three super regional at Alabama.

The 2023 season has ended for Patrick Murphy and the Alabama softball as the Crimson Tide took a 2-0 loss to Stanford on Friday night from Oklahoma City in the Women’s College World Series. The conclusion of the season also brings the end of the Montana Fouts era of Alabama softball.
