Summer doesn't officially start until late June, but after a gorgeous Memorial Day weekend at the Jersey shore, vacationers are ready to start the season.

SEA BRIGHT, N.J. -- Beachgoers enjoyed the sun and surf this Memorial Day Weekend. The rip current risk was high Monday, because of a low pressure system to the south and winds rolling in off the water to the east.

Thousands of people packed Jersey Shore beaches Monday to soak in the sun on the last day of the Memorial Day Weekend.

Games, kites and sandcastles were all in full effect on the beach. For businesses like Ocean City Coffee Company, the weekend brought in a lot of customers.

A 15-year-old boy died over the weekend after entering the waters off a Sandy Hook beach in New Jersey. Multiple others were transported to two medical centers.

It appears thieves are taking advantage of Memorial Day crowds as families flock to the Jersey Shore to celebrate the unofficial start of summer.
