NEW YORK: Indian national Nikhil Gupta, accused of being involved in a murder-for-hire plot against a Sikh extremist on American soil, pleaded not guilty as he was arraigned in federal court here.

pleaded not guilty on Monday (local time) at a federal court in the US. Nikhil Gupta, 52, was detained at Prague airport in June 2023 under a US warrant and arrived in the United States on June 14.

Nikhil Gupta is accused of being involved in an unsuccessful plot to assassinate Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, a Khalistani separatist holding dual American and Canadian citizenship, in New York.
