JOYLAND AMUSEMENT PARK is a small family-owned traditional amusement park, located in beautiful Mackenzie Park in Lubbock, Texas and has been entertaining kids of all ages since 1948. The typical season will begin in early March and end in early September. Joyland is open weekends March to September and Tuesday through Friday evenings June through August. Joyland has great rides and attractions, over 30 in all, ranging from water coaster to roller coasters to junior rides and family classics, like the colorful carousel, food favorites, exciting fun games and group outing facilities. The roots of this operation go all the way back to the 1940s with the opening of the Mackenzie Park Playground. It later became the Joyland Amusement Park and has been entertaining people in the area ever since. There are rides for the whole family here, as well as rides for those who are not faint of heart. The Tower Drop raises you to a height of 140 feet before you are pushed towards the ground at 50 mph. There is a roller coaster as well as the more traditional rides like the Scrambler and the Tilt-A-Whirl.
