Summit Racing SUM-CSUMEPU38304: Parts Combos, Engine Power Combo, Unbreakable 383 CID Small Block Chevy Completer Parts Combo, Chevy, Kit - The 383 cu. in. small block Chevy is probably the most popular stroker combination in the known universe. So, it was no shock when Engine Power's Pat Topolinski and Frankie Forman were asked to build one for an off-road Chevy Suburban their friends at Music City Trucks were cooking up. Torque was the goal, and the 383 delivered 492.7 lbs.-ft. of it at 4,500 rpm.The 383 was dynoed with a set of Hedman mid-length headers with 1.75 in. primaries; these are the same headers the engine will have when it's swapped into the Suburban. A Summit Racing™ electric water pump was also used for dyno testing. A set of Summit Racing™ diecast logo valve covers with raised "383 Stroker" lettering with a Billet Specialties valve cover breather prettify the engine.
